What does Peace Mean? by Hannah Faber

Peace is not only the absence of violence; it is a state of being – a way of life. Peace means acceptance. Peace means love. Peace means tranquility. Peace means self-acceptance. So many of these things, so many aspects of peace are missing from our world today. If our world was a peaceful place, then people would also be more loving, understanding and compassionate. Peace is a goal to work toward every day. To quote a common church hymn – “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.”

  1. Even if we never reach peace, Hannah, we can still move toward it. -- I especially like your first line, "Peace is not only the absence of violence; it is a state of being--a way of life."

  2. I agree! It's nice to remember that peace stars with us, like you said in the hymn. Until we are at peace with ourselves and our world, we won't be able to share that peace.
